Tamagit , “identity” in Tamazight language
Art jewelry goes beyond design and material. Art jewelry is experience, knowledge, concept and emotion. The object itself is important, but it can not be embraced as a mere visual ornament or clothing accessory. If you are a critical thinker and a person with a voice, in the frontline, in the spotlight, on stage or behind a microphone or creative ideas, you need to discover Tamagit’s art jewelry. We ensure you that it will be life changing.
Tamagit understands contemporary jewels as unique wearable objects that have the power to transform subjects. This is why we think that if you are a singular person, you will appreciate and love to purchase, wear, give away and collect Tamagit’s art jewelry. As a subject wearing / collecting / giving away a Tamagit piece you will not be in touch with an object marked with an expiry date, but an everlasting, portable and transferable work of art: a unique piece made for you by a unique artist.
Marta Rodríguez aka Marta Tamagit (Barcelona, 1974) is the founder and curator of this unique project. As a graduate in Translation & Interpreting & Humanities with sound knowledge of literature, ethics and art, her real passion is contemporary art jewelry as she considers it to be a comprehensive and extraordinary phenomenon by which art becomes portable and transferable enabling constant dialogues with the artwork carrier and the external beholder.
Being multilingual and multicultural, Marta has travelled a lot worldwide and lived many years in Leiden, The Netherlands where she consolidated her taste for arts. From her beloved Barcelona she is launching this exciting innovative project: Tamagit. With it, her main goal is to support jewelry artists and to empower subjects through those artists’ wearable art. Marta considers that every jewelry piece has a special force that is transferred to the wearer.
Moreover, Marta will continue carrying out research and writing about art jewelry, as she is doing for some years now. While doing so, she will try to connect this artistic expression to other disciplines in order to enable dynamism and collaboration.

“Whether you are tall, small, thin, strong, a bit discrete or very extravagant, there is a work of art jewelry waiting for you. Every piece holds a secret, a poem, a story, an enigmatic energy that will travel to you as wearer and somehow transform your identity. Tamagit would like to enable this change in you. Help us doing so.”
